Aiden has 20 years of leadership experience. He has managed both small and large/complex operations in a variety of commodities. Through authentic people-centred leadership and adept use and improvement of operating systems, Aiden has delivered excellent results in safety, productivity, and costs.

Aiden has worked in operations start-ups as well as established organizations in sizes from Junior companies to multi-nationals and has proven the ability to create meaningful change in any environment. In particular, the start-up projects were executed safely as well as timely and cost-effectively. Aiden has successfully helped lead labour relations to successful conclusions on multiple occasions. All these kinds of changes depend on “Our Most Important Resource”, a heavily over-used term that remains nonetheless true. Getting the most possible from our people requires a forward-looking, technically sound, and agreed on VISION. Aiden has been able to help people craft a vision for organizations at multiple levels, make that vision real and practical, and through that process get people engaged in the realization of that vision.

Aiden moved from leading organizations at the Executive level in 2014 to become an independent consultant, which he remains to date. He has partnered to run “The Professional Supervisor” development program, first with the Program’s founder, Jim Decker, and now with Wray Carvelas. This is an industry-best program that has been proven effective in helping organizations improve through the development of their people. Aiden also maintains an active technical consulting presence as well, and often combines technical consulting with Leadership program work for yet more added effectiveness for organizations.

Jim Decker

Jim Decker

Jim is a 1970 Queen’s Mining Engineering graduate who has worked in Leadership positions across Canada and internationally, notably El Cerrejon in Columbia.

In 1991, Jim co-founded The Professional Supervisor Program, in connection with Queen’s University at that time. Jim’s, and industry typical experience, was to complete a technical program and then nearly immediately be tasked with leading people with no formal Leadership training of any kind. Many others are promoted based on some technical competency level, again without any Leadership training at all. This Program was created out of that reality to address this issue, improve performance of people in Leadership positions, and increase the likelihood of success for people who have been promoted into Leadership positions.

From 1991 to 2020, under Jim’s Leadership, the program has seen approximately 5,500 people come through it from all over the world. Jim has taken a few years to complete succession planning, and the Program now continues into the future under Aiden’s Leadership.
